Ajiran Community Protests at SCID Panti, Seeks Release of Vehicle and Case Documents

Members of the Ajiran Community in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti.

The protesters called for the release of a Lexus 600 SUV belonging to Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, as well as Certified True Copies of the investigation report and case file.

The protesters said they were at the command to meet the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge, Dayo Akinbisehin, regarding the continued withholding of their kinsman's vehicle and official documents.

According to the protesters, counsel to Mr. Akanbi, Adedotun Ajulo, Esq., had informed them that the police were yet to release the Lexus 600. They stated that the vehicle was not listed as an exhibit in the matter against Akanbi.

They also expressed concern that the CTC of the investigation report and the case file had not been released. The community urged the command to ensure due process in handling the matter.

“Mr. Akanbi is constitutionally entitled to the CTC of the case file to enable him prepare for his defence,” one of the protesters said.

During the protest, the community presented a letter to the DC requesting the release of the vehicle and the documents within 7 days.

Officers of the command addressed the protesters and assured them that their demands would be looked into.

The protest ended peacefully with no breakdown of law and order.

Court Cautions Police, Orders Proper Invitation of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Lagos State Magistrate Court has cautioned the Lagos State Police Command and directed that proper procedures be followed in the handling of the case involving Mr. Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran, in what is seen as a setback for individuals including Bashir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Jimoh Moshood. Presiding over proceedings in the Ogba Magisterial District, Magistrate A. J. Odueke, in Charge No: MISC/126/2026, held that the police must formally invite Akanbi rather than declare him wanted.
