Appreciating NEDC's Intervention In North East Educational Struggle

By Audu Moses  For several years, schools in the North Eastern part of Nigeria, and indeed it's entire educational system were in ruins and rots. They were visibly and intentionally targeted. Schools were burned, teachers and learners were killed, while thousands more were displaced or abducted, with entire communities left with an equal generation of children, whose only history and places of abode are IDP camps and displacement homes. It has been over 15 years of traumatic and horrific stories. This reality confronted the entire country and even the international community. The insurgents did not only attack schools, the inflicted violence on the psyche, attempting to destroy it's fundamental ideals, and fabrics through demoralizing and radicalizing the system. Education is not just about grades and certificates, it's about survival, and a generation. It is within this context that the North East Development Commission's educational program of rebuilding and sustainab...

Rivers 2027: How Proven Loyalty Is Speaking For Kingsley Chida

By Thomas Taribo    There are two types of loyalty; true loyalty and strategic loyalty. True loyalty is rare, and unambitious. True loyalty is unsaleable, it stays when all else leaves, because it has no exit clause, and convenience, but strategic loyalty is common because it’s rational, and transactional.    In politics, you need both to win. But when the fight gets real, only true loyalty stays. Howbeit , structurally, transactional loyalty leads to structural collapse. Evidentially , those who hold the structure of 2027, are those who did not scatter in 2023. However, loyalty is never one-sided, although it is not entrenched in keeping scores, it is designed to create reciprocal bonds.   True loyalty, the type demonstrated by Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chida in Rivers State works quietly, protectively, and defensively, without exposing or taking the credit.   Rt. Hon. Chida, understands from the onset that there are certain things that cannot be rushed wit...

Allegations Of Political Manipulation And Monetization Of The Electoral Process in Lagos State

We, as concerned residents of Lagos State and committed advocates of democratic accountability, wish to draw urgent public attention to disturbing allegations of political manipulation, financial inducement, intimidation, and coercion currently undermining the integrity of the electoral process across the state. Of particular concern is the situation in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency I, where credible reports suggest that the political space is being distorted through the monetization of the process. It is alleged that a particular aspirant, Mr. Lawrence Olanrewaju, engaged in the disbursement of substantial sums to influential actors, including ₦150 million reportedly coordinated through Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde (popularly known as Oluomo), as well as $100,000 allegedly given to Mr. Kamorudeen Olawale Yusuf (Kamosky), a Personal Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Official Waste Of Government Resources, National Wealth, Group Slams NNPCL GMD Over MOU With Chinese Firm To Revive Dead Refineries ...Demands Accountability Into Past Investment Of $1 Billion Into The Refineries

A coalition of oil sector reform advocates has criticised the latest agreement by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited with Chinese firms to revive Nigeria’s refineries, describing the move as a wasteful recycling of failed strategies and a troubling signal of weak accountability in the management of public resources. The group, the Centre for Energy Sector Transparency (CEST), made its position known in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its executive director, Dr Oghenetega Edafe, following the announcement of a new memorandum of understanding between NNPC Ltd and two Chinese companies for a proposed technical equity partnership. The agreement is aimed at completing rehabilitation work and restarting operations at the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries, assets that have remained largely dormant despite multiple rounds of government-funded turnaround maintenance. Edafe said the development raises serious questions about fiscal discipline, policy coherence,...

NANS Warns Against ‘Name-Dropping’ of Governor in Ogun JCC Election, Declares SA Adeyemi Persona Non Grata

Concerned stakeholders in the National Association of Nigerian Students, Ogun State Joint Campus Committee, has become aware of troubling developments suggesting undue interference in its forthcoming election process. As an independent student body, NANS remains committed to democratic principles, transparency, and the collective will of students across campuses in Ogun State. However, recent indicators point to attempts by the Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Students’ Affairs, Adeyemi Azeez Amoo, to influence the electoral process in ways that could undermine its credibility and integrity. Reports reaching stakeholders within the student community indicate that there are moves to improperly invoke the name and authority of the Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to sway outcomes and intimidate participants. Such actions, if allowed to persist, risk creating unnecessary tension among students and could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election. It is important to stress that the...

A presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Stanley Osifo, has declared that he possesses the capacity to solve Nigeria’s numerous challenges and urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give him an opportunity. Osifo, an indigene of Edo State, said that he had already purchased the APC presidential expression of interest and nomination forms worth N100 million ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking in an interview on Friday, Osifo dismissed claims that Tinubu financed the purchase of the forms. “Some people said President Bola Tinubu gave me money to buy the nomination and expression of interest forms. Tinubu has never given me any money before. “He has never given me any kobo, penny, or pence. I bought branded vehicles to support his presidential ambition in 2023. I mobilised people with my resources to support him then,” he said. Osifo added that he is prepared to participate in whichever mode of primary election the APC adopts. “Let us go f...
