Ohanaeze Progressive Council Disowns Statement Against Former Governors’ Endorsement of President Tinubu for Second Term ***Says South-East Leaders Acted in Igbo Interest

The Ohanaeze Progressive Council (OPC) has vehemently disowned and condemned the reckless, ill-advised, and deeply disrespectful statement issued by the so-called Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) declaring the South-East Forum of Former Governors as “persona non grata” in Igboland.

In a press statement, the National President of the Ohanaeze Progressive Council, Comrade Ugo Benjamin, described the OYC’s action as “an act of shameless youthful arrogance and cultural sacrilege that has no place in the dignified traditions of Ndigbo.”

“This is not how Igbo people behave,” Comrade Benjamin said. “In Igboland, respect for elders, leaders, and statesmen is not optional—it is sacred.

"These elders are accomplished sons of the soil who have served our people with distinction.

"For a fringe group of loud-mouthed youths to wake up and declare them outcasts is not only laughable but a disgusting display of disrespect that spits on the very face of Igbo culture and tradition.”

Comrade Benjamin praised the leaders as “visionary statesmen who have consistently placed the interest of Ndigbo above personal ambition.”

He highlighted their developmental legacies, their proven track records in governance, and their commitment to the South-East even after leaving office.

“These are men have fought for Igbo interest at the national level with courage and intelligence.

"Their decision to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term is not betrayal—it is strategic patriotism of the highest order.

"It is a bold move to secure the future of our region through engagement, development, and inclusion rather than the childish confrontation and isolation peddled by the OYC,” he stated.

The OPC leader hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a transformative leader whose administration has opened new doors for the South-East.

“President Tinubu is a man of action, a unifier, and a visionary whose Renewed Hope Agenda is delivering real dividends across Nigeria.

"The South-East leaders who have endorsed him understand what many short-sighted youths cannot see: that the path to addressing marginalization is not through endless protest and isolation, but through strategic alliance with a President who respects competence and rewards loyalty.

"Their support is in the best interest of Ndigbo, and history will vindicate them,” Comrade Benjamin declared.

He accused the OYC of acting out of mischief, hunger for cheap relevance, and possible external sponsorship aimed at dividing the South-East ahead of 2027.

“These so-called youth leaders have no electoral value, no grassroots following, and zero respect for the wisdom of our elders.

"Their disgraceful statement is nothing but political hooliganism and an attempt to blackmail respected leaders who have refused to be used as tools for selfish agendas.

"We reject it in its entirety. We stand firmly with our leaders and we urge all well-meaning Ndigbo to do the same,” he added.

Comrade Ugo Benjamin warned that any further attempt to ostracize or disrespect these leaders would be resisted by the majority of progressive Igbo youths and elders who value unity, respect, and progress over empty noise-making.

“The Ohanaeze Progressive Council stands for responsible youth leadership that uplifts rather than destroys.

"We call on all Igbo sons and daughters to ignore the divisive rantings of the OYC and rally behind the statesmen who are working tirelessly for the interest of Ala Igbo within the Nigerian project under the capable leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Court Sets Aside Arrest, Remand, Wanted Declaration Against Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, has set aside its earlier ex-parte order authorizing the arrest, remand, and “wanted” declaration of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran. The development follows the earlier declaration of Akanbi as wanted for alleged multiple murder by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, on February 19, 2026. However, in a ruling delivered today, Magistrate L.A. Owolabi of Magistrate Court 3 nullified the ex-parte order initially granted on February 16, 2026. In his decision, Magistrate Owolabi held that the order was obtained through the concealment of material facts. The court specifically noted that the counsel who filed and argued the application, Nosa Watson Uhumwangho, was under suspension by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee at the time and therefore lacked the right of audience before the court. The ruling sparked jubilation among members of the youth wing of the Ojomu royal family, who...

Lagos Lawyer, Ajulo, Labels AIG Moshood Jimoh 'Incompetent,' Demands Independent Review of Ajiran Killings Probe

A Lagos-based lawyer, Adedotun Ajulo Esq, has described the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Moshood Jimoh, as "incompetent and renewed his call for an independent review of the police investigation into the killings in Ajiran Community. Ajulo made the remarks in a statement issued in response to a publication titled "Ajiran killings: Groups, Stakeholders Exonerate AIG Jimoh Moshood from Corrupt Allegations, Refutes Defamatory Statement as Fallacy,"* in which several groups defended the senior police officer against allegations surrounding the handling of the murder investigation. According to the lawyer, public endorsements and declarations of support cannot replace transparency and accountability in restoring public confidence in the justice system. "Public confidence in the administration of justice cannot be restored through endorsements or public declarations. Confidence is earned through a process that is demonstrably impartial, transparent, and ca...

Court Cautions Police, Orders Proper Invitation of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Lagos State Magistrate Court has cautioned the Lagos State Police Command and directed that proper procedures be followed in the handling of the case involving Mr. Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran, in what is seen as a setback for individuals including Bashir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Jimoh Moshood. Presiding over proceedings in the Ogba Magisterial District, Magistrate A. J. Odueke, in Charge No: MISC/126/2026, held that the police must formally invite Akanbi rather than declare him wanted. The Court further stated that an order for arrest would only be considered if he fails to honour such an invitation. The Court noted that it was mindful of previous proceedings in Charge No: MCIK/60A/2026, where a similar application had earlier been set aside by another Magistrate on March 23, 2026, on the grounds of illegality. Consequently, the Court declined to entertain what it described as a repetition of a defective process. ...
