Concerned Ekiti Professionals Call For PDP Unity Ahead Of Governorship Poll



A group under the aegis of Concerned Ekiti Professionals has urged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to close ranks and unite behind its governorship candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, ahead of the forthcoming election in Ekiti State.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its convener, Oluwatosin Dada, the group described the election as a defining moment for the state, warning that Ekiti “cannot afford another term of deceit and propaganda.”

The group expressed dissatisfaction with the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, alleging that residents are disillusioned by what it called unfulfilled promises and hardship. According to the statement, many citizens are eager for a change in leadership and direction.

Highlighting its preferred candidate, the group said Dr. Wole Oluyede represents “competence, integrity, and transformative leadership,” positioning him as a credible alternative capable of delivering progress and restoring confidence in governance.

The professionals, however, raised concerns over internal divisions within the PDP, accusing some party leaders of undermining the party’s chances by allegedly supporting the incumbent. They warned that such actions could weaken the party’s electoral prospects if not urgently addressed.

The statement called on key stakeholders, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as well as PDP governors such as Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde, to intervene and foster unity within the party’s Ekiti chapter.

“The time has come for the PDP to set aside internal differences and rally fully behind its candidate,” the group stated, stressing that unity, adequate support, and strategic coordination would be crucial to securing victory at the polls.

The Concerned Ekiti Professionals also pledged their commitment to mobilizing voters and advocating for what they described as the collective interest of the state, maintaining that their position is driven by a desire for improved governance rather than partisan loyalty.

They concluded by warning that history would judge harshly any failure to act decisively at a critical time for Ekiti’s future.

Court Cautions Police, Orders Proper Invitation of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Lagos State Magistrate Court has cautioned the Lagos State Police Command and directed that proper procedures be followed in the handling of the case involving Mr. Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran, in what is seen as a setback for individuals including Bashir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Jimoh Moshood.
