Emulate Mogaji Ogun-Elu, Olubadan Tells Mogajis, Wealthy Ibadan Indigenes

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oyo State, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Senator Ma'hood Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Alli Iwo Okunmade II has called on Ibadan Mogajis and wealthy Ibadan indigenes to emulate the loyalty, passion for development and fast transformation as exemplified by  Arole Ogun-Elu Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP.

The first class monarch revealed this during the visit of the Founder, Spiritual Head and Grand Imam  of the Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide, Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP as part of the activities to mark the 81st birthday of Oba Balogun.

HIM,  Oba Balogun described Professor Olagoke JP as a true son of Ibadan land, who is using all that Allah has given him for the development of Islamic religion and Ibadan land.

He however, called on all Ibadan Mogajis and wealthy Ibadan indigenes to emulate the passion and loyalty of the Arole Ogun-Elu of Aare Alasa dynasty, Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP.

While presenting a paper titled "Culture and Value Restoration , A Must," Professor  Olagoke, JP in his congratulatory message, described the Oba Balogun as a peace lover, whose reign has brought tremendous growth to Ibadan land, Oyo State and the world at large.

He stated that he learnt a lot from the monarch, who upon ascending the throne familiarised with his ancestral home in Iwo and also called on the youths to learn from elders in a way he has learnt from the Olubadan.

The Cleric, while praying to God to grant the Olubadan more years in good health and prosperity, urged Oba Balogun to task other Mogajis not to engage in land encroachment, but to engage in meaningful developmental projects that will transform Ibadanland.

He specifically  emphasized on education and functional healthcare services.

"This is why I am calling on the government of Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE to visit all ancestral compounds in Ibadanland and fix places, where there is no infrastructure for the welfare of the people.

"Ibadanland is known to be epicentre of development, ethics and professionalism for Nigeria in particular, and Africa in general to the delight of the whole world. Ibadan has from inception being  a role model and examplary pacesetter, but  unfortunately, idiosyncrasy in the disguise of civilisation has adversely affected us.

"I have sincere passion for Ibadanland,  the home of heroes; Lagelu, Ogunmola, Oderinlo, Alli Iwo, Ogun-Elu etc who fought the battle gallantly. The efforts of our heroes past shall not be in vain.  I therefore request from God, that my coming into the mainstream of power represented by the hierarchical order of Ibadan traditional and cultural setting for maximum service delivery, be during your reign to be part of the winning team on the cause of transforming the entire landscape of Ibadan land to that of the 21st century demand of a befitting mega and metropolitan city or state," he said.

Prof. Olagoke JP prayed that ObaIshola Balogun will have a peaceful, prosperous, long reign and good health.

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, has set aside its earlier ex-parte order authorizing the arrest, remand, and “wanted” declaration of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran. The development follows the earlier declaration of Akanbi as wanted for alleged multiple murder by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, on February 19, 2026. However, in a ruling delivered today, Magistrate L.A. Owolabi of Magistrate Court 3 nullified the ex-parte order initially granted on February 16, 2026. In his decision, Magistrate Owolabi held that the order was obtained through the concealment of material facts. The court specifically noted that the counsel who filed and argued the application, Nosa Watson Uhumwangho, was under suspension by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee at the time and therefore lacked the right of audience before the court. The ruling sparked jubilation among members of the youth wing of the Ojomu royal family, who...
