Lagos Guber Poll: We Will Make Life Better For Residents-JANDOR

The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, on Friday said that he was committed to faithfully deploying state resources to ease the burdens and hardship of the residents of the state .

Adediran made the pledge when his campaign train went to Somolu Local Government Area of the state in continuation of his tour of the 245 wards in the state.

The governorship hopeful, in an interactive sessions with various artisans, religious and other groups in the area, said that his ambition was not personal, but that it is in the interest of the masses.

According to him, God has so much blessed the state with huge resources, while promising that he will utilise the wealth of the state to address various challenges facing the residents if elected in the forthcoming elections.

"I will not run a government, where the people  I am ruling would not know me. I never knew there was no mechanic village and workshop in Somolu for mechanics, vulcanizers, technicians and other artisans.

"I will provide solutions to all your challenges. I will create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

"The government we are going to run will be for the masses. All forms of hooliganism and thuggery will end in the state, just relax your mind.

"We will not allow imposition of affliction and oppression of the people of Lagos State. I have the political will to end all anomalies and hardship in the state.

"God has blessed Lagos so much to ease the burden of the residents and bring happiness for the majority of the people," Adediran said.

He said that his administration would empower women and youths to do business rather than giving them consumable items like noodles.

According to him, his government will ensure free and compulsory education with free school uniforms for pupils and students of public schools.

Adediran said that the presidential elections of February 25, 2023 remained the most important, hence the need for the people to vote for the candidate of the PDP in the election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

He urged the people not to be deceived to vote along ethnic line, stressing that the people should eschew ethnicity.

He said that if Atiku wins it would be easy for the party to win many states of the federation, especially Lagos State.

"God forbid, if APC wins, they will prevent us from winning the Lagos State governorship election," he said.

Earlier, leaders and members of the MotorMechs and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MONTAN), Somolu/Bariga Branch, who gave Adediran and his team a rousing welcome, decried lack of mechanic village in the area.

The Chairman of MONTAN, Somolu/ Bariga Branch, Mr. Samson Olukunle, said, "there are many things to say but we have to say few words."

Olukunle, who noted that no one could stop whoever God wants to use, urged leaders and members of the PDP to embark on house-to-house campaign.

Also, the Chairman of the Lagos State Vulcanizer Association, Somolu/Bariga Branch, Mr Jacob Oludare, noted that only the will of God would prevail in the poll, adding that, "we are working for the progress of Nigeria."

Oludare urged members of the PDP to work harder on grassroots campaign ahead of the elections.

Adediran, at an interactive session with the leaders of  Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Bariga LCDA, assured the people that no section or religion in the society would be neglected by his government.

Commending CAN for receiving him, the PDP candidate said that poverty, flooding, traffic jam, out-of-school children  and other challenges facing the state did not know the religion or spare anyone.

"We should not sit on the fence because we are church leaders. It is about time that all of us must be determined to see to the issues affecting our state. We have come to seek partnership with you rather than campaigning.

"We must come together and rescue our state now. We have the resources to ease the burdens of the people of the state.

"We want to sit down with the body of Christ to better our tomorrow. Even if you have decided not to vote for us, please pray for me, that is enough," he said.

According to him, with trust in God, he is determined to end the reign of APC in the state to run a masses-oriented government with the fear of God.

Adediran said that he had solutions to resolve youth restiveness in the state if elected.

Earlier, Coordinator of CAN in Bariga LCDA, Rev. Moses Elebute, said, " Our churches members belong to different political parties, so we recognise all parties."

The PDP candidate also met with the leaders of Spare Parts Dealers Association and other trade groups in the council.

Adediran and the party's Deputy Governorship Candidate in the state, Ms, Funke Akindele, had begun a tour of the 245 wards  in the state on October 19, 2022.

Court Sets Aside Arrest, Remand, Wanted Declaration Against Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, has set aside its earlier ex-parte order authorizing the arrest, remand, and “wanted” declaration of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran. The development follows the earlier declaration of Akanbi as wanted for alleged multiple murder by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, on February 19, 2026. However, in a ruling delivered today, Magistrate L.A. Owolabi of Magistrate Court 3 nullified the ex-parte order initially granted on February 16, 2026. In his decision, Magistrate Owolabi held that the order was obtained through the concealment of material facts. The court specifically noted that the counsel who filed and argued the application, Nosa Watson Uhumwangho, was under suspension by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee at the time and therefore lacked the right of audience before the court. The ruling sparked jubilation among members of the youth wing of the Ojomu royal family, who...

Court Cautions Police, Orders Proper Invitation of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Lagos State Magistrate Court has cautioned the Lagos State Police Command and directed that proper procedures be followed in the handling of the case involving Mr. Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran, in what is seen as a setback for individuals including Bashir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Jimoh Moshood. Presiding over proceedings in the Ogba Magisterial District, Magistrate A. J. Odueke, in Charge No: MISC/126/2026, held that the police must formally invite Akanbi rather than declare him wanted. The Court further stated that an order for arrest would only be considered if he fails to honour such an invitation. The Court noted that it was mindful of previous proceedings in Charge No: MCIK/60A/2026, where a similar application had earlier been set aside by another Magistrate on March 23, 2026, on the grounds of illegality. Consequently, the Court declined to entertain what it described as a repetition of a defective process. ...

The Tinubu–Ambode Support Associates (TASA) today Wednesday, December 4, 2025, convened a strategic stakeholders’ meeting with student union leaders from across Lagos State, reaffirming the critical role of young people in shaping the democratic direction of the state as preparations intensify toward the 2027 general elections.   The meeting, attended by representatives of 11 tertiary institutions under the coordinated leadership of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC), NANS Lagos Chapter, provided a robust platform for frank political discourse, progressive engagement, and actionable strategies for youth driven political mobilization.   TASA leadership briefed the students on the urgent necessity of active participation in governance, noting that voter apathy particularly among young people significantly affected the 2023 general elections.
