Woman Rep.  of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas has urged professional women,Women in Business , Market women, artisans, young ladies, graduates, undergraduates and all categories of women from age 18 and above to register as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Okoya-Thomas, said in a statement that women should not allow themselves to be relegated to the background, adding that the APC is ready to give them a platform  to be at the forefront of the development of the state and the country in general. APC , is a gender friendly party that has blazed the trail by appointing the highest number of women to prominent positions across the Country.

According to her, Women must therefore embrace the opportunities that abound for us by taking a cue from the newly elected first female Vice President of the United States of America - Kamala Harris who took the bull by the horn.

The Women Leader made the call as the APC is undergoing a fresh membership registration across the country.

Okoya-Thomas, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, emphasized that time has come for the women to stop being "ordinary supporters" and become a part of the decision making process in the state. This is the only way they can influence Governance.

"Our party, the APC is ready to give opportunities to women if they are willing to be part of the moving train.

"I was elected as a member of the Federal House of Representatives for three consecutive times and till today I have not been relegated by the party

"That is why I want to urge all eligible women to join our party and register as members in the ongoing registration exercise.

"What would give us a voice is our number. We need to come together in large numbers so that we can continue to claim our rightful positions in a party that is ruling in both the State and at the Federal  level," she said.

Okoya-Thomas advised the women to take their destiny in their hands and yield to the call "so that men would know that we cannot be relegated to the background."

She pointed out in the statement that the APC is gender sensitive, which she said is the reason women are being considered whenever there was need for appointments into boards and parastatals in the state and at the federal level.

Court Sets Aside Arrest, Remand, Wanted Declaration Against Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, has set aside its earlier ex-parte order authorizing the arrest, remand, and “wanted” declaration of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Hammed Ajiran. The development follows the earlier declaration of Akanbi as wanted for alleged multiple murder by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, on February 19, 2026. However, in a ruling delivered today, Magistrate L.A. Owolabi of Magistrate Court 3 nullified the ex-parte order initially granted on February 16, 2026. In his decision, Magistrate Owolabi held that the order was obtained through the concealment of material facts. The court specifically noted that the counsel who filed and argued the application, Nosa Watson Uhumwangho, was under suspension by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee at the time and therefore lacked the right of audience before the court. The ruling sparked jubilation among members of the youth wing of the Ojomu royal family, who...
