The High Court of Delta State sitting in Effurun, has dismissed the preliminary objections filed by the Nigerian-American singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido and his company, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear and determine the breach of contract suit filed against him by Amaju Pinnick and Brownhill Investment Company Limited over the annual ‘Warri Again Concert’. The court also dismissed another objection by Davido Music Worldwide and Israel Afeare challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the defamation case filed against them. A group, Forum of Civil Society (FCS) on Monday rejected the recent suspension of Dr Betta Edu from her position as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, over the alleged misappropriation of funds. President Bola Tinubu through a release by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, earlier suspended the minister. An indigenous oil and gas engineering company, Kaztec Engineering Limited, has asked the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal to set aside the judgment of Justice Nkeonye Evelyn Maha of Federal High Court Abuja, which struck out its suit filed against the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, and five others regarding Oil Mining Leases (OMLs) 123, 124, 126 and 137. Justice Maha had in her judgment delivered on December 15, 2023, struck out suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/1291/2020, filed by Kaztec Engineering Limited against the Ministry of Petroleum Resources; the Attorney General of the Federation; Mars Exploration and Production Company Ltd; the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
