It’s wrong to say election was militarised, says Gen Buratai, Chief of Army Staff

The Nigerian Army has been in the eye of the storm over the conduct of soldiers deployed to provide security during the 2019 elections. The soldiers have been roundly accused in several quarters of committing infractions, including partisan interference in the electoral process, that seriously undermined the credibility and sanctity of the elections. In fact, in the estimation of many observers, both Federal Government and the Army stand condemned over the undue militarisation of the electoral process. Ogun APC Supports Amosun's Suspension, Calls For His Expulsion

The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun State has described the suspension of the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, by APC’ National Working Committee (NWC), “as long overdue”.  In a press statement issued in Abeokuta on Friday, and signed by the APC Ogun Caretaker Committee’s Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, the party described the action of the National Working Committee in suspending Amosun as “long overdue.” The statement reads: “we received the NWC’s decision wholeheartedly and we say it is long overdue” “Governor Amosun’s actions constitute a huge demonstration of ingratitude and party disloyalty. Ogun Governorship Polls: Political Calculation Favours Kashamu of PDP

The current political calculations in Ogun State appear to favour the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Kashamu Buruji as the elections slated for 9th March, 2019 are fast approaching. Reports Indicated that Kashamu Buruji appears to be better placed amongst the four leading governorship candidates in the state. One of the candidates, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), we gathered is limited by many factors. It was revealed that GNI, who hails from Ogun West, was in the camp of former governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State as at 2011, but that he shifted to the camp of Kashamu Buruji in 2015 having lost the 2011 governorship election in the state. Nigeria Elections 2019: Observers Hail INEC Over Credible, Transparent Polls

Election observers under the platform of Independent Foreign Observers have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Nigerians for transparency and credibility of the yesterday's Presidential and National Assembly elections.  They gave this commendation at a press conference this afternoon in Abuja. The team leader, Dr. Stuart Young, an academic and diplomat spoke on behalf of other members of the team at its presentation of preliminary report.
