NUJ Chair, Others Enjoy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Traffic Flow, Commend FG

The Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Adeleye Ajayi, has commended the Federal Government for the free flow of traffic being enjoyed on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as a result of temporary re-opening of the highway to traffic.   Ajayi, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, joined some other road users to hail the authorities on the seamless movement now experienced on the highway.   NAN reports that the Federal Ministry of Works had on Monday re-opened closed lanes on the Section one of the highway which spans Ojota in Lagos to Sagamu Interchange to traffic days ahead of schedule.   The re-opening, which entailed removal of barriers that had been used to narrow lanes in the area, followed the suspension of reconstruction works on the OPIC axis of the expressway until January, to ease traffic flow during the festive period.    “I drove through the highway this morning and the road was fre...

NUOS Int'l USA, CDHRAC Int'l USA, MOSOP Urge UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres To Declare Climate, Health Emergency In Ogoniland, Nigeria

The Ogoni - American organizations; National Union of Ogoni Students, NUOS Int'l USA, Center for Democracy Human Rights and Anti- Corruption and Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, MOSOP have urged the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres to declare a state of climate and heath emergency in Ogoniland, Niger Delta Nigeria. This, they said is due to "the Nigerian Government and the Royal Dutch Shell's failure and refusal to timely and adequately clean the radioactive or ecological waste buried into Ogoni underground waters." NOUS Int'l USA and CDHRAC Int'l USA then humbly asked Guterres "to declare a state of emergency in Ogoniland because of decades of Royal Dutch Shell hydrocarbon wastes and coupled with HYPREP'S contamination and unprofessional disposal of contaminated residues."
